Allotment Inspiration

This is our lovely allotment, where we spend many happy hours having fun, playing frisbee and football, enjoying picnics and BBQs, even camping sessions with all our friends and children; as well as growing our own fruit, flowers and veg… it really is heaven…

Lots of inspiration and design ideas for our wall art have been scribbled in my art pad while having a lazy sunday at our allotment… ‘Perfect Day’ came to me while watching all my brightly coloured dhalias of all shapes and sizes swaying gently in the breeze on a fantastically hot and blue Summers day. As a designer of wall art for children it is a great place to relax your mind, certainly our most creative thoughts and designs have materialized from a trip to the allotment…

A big hurray, our first exhibition will take place at ‘Maggie and Rose” a gorgeous exclusive children’s club in central London. I sent a publicity post-card to Maggie & Rose many weeks ago and last week received a lovely email back inviting me to go and meet them, and asking if we would like a 3-6 month exhibition of our wall art in their club …an absolute, yes please !!!!

Take a look at their site, it really is fantastic…

A day out in the big smoke

The week has started very well for us. On Monday I had a day trip to London, took 600 of our publicity wall art postcards and went to Kings Road and Notting Hill to post cards through letterboxes. Really sunny, really lovely day. Some gorgeous houses, love the brightly painted houses at the back of Kings Road, so interesting. Was tempted to have a drink in the sunshine at the ‘Chelsea Potter’ on Kings Road, an old haunt of mine many moons ago…in the end went for a bottle of water and sandwich at Pret a Manger, how things have changed!!

The postcards are just a tiny part of our advertising plan. Magazine wise, “Junior’ will be featuring ‘Outer Space’, I had a lovely email back from ‘Angels and Urchins’ saying how nice our work is and that they will contact us after the holidays regarding a feature. These two publications are read by the most affluent parents, so hopefully they will like our unique handmade wall art for their children !!!! Still working hard on our site to get us up on the first few pages of Google, this is very important for small businesses: to be seen by as many people as possible…

Off to Suffolk and Norfolk for 10 days, sure I will have something to report on my return…

The first week after our launch…

The first week after our launch…

Had a lovely week sorting and organising my lists of contacts to send our publicity postcards. Contacted a number of exclusive nurseries in London to see if they are happy to put some of our postcards on display, many very helpful people out there in this time of recession…Really trying to tackle the places where mummies go that would…

A. Love our wall art

B. Like unique wall art to be seen and admired on their childrens’ bedroom walls

C. Have some spare income to buy our work !!!!

So enjoyed it. Feels really relaxed after a mad 18 months of getting all our designs and website together. Tomorrow I intend to send our postcards to another 3 nursery’s… I intend to write maybe 300-400 postcards, we like to make them personnel by writing a short message and signing them. These will be ready for me to run round Stamford next Monday and pop them in appropriate houses and shops…maybe if I have time after wards make a few strings of superhero bunting for our son’s 6th Birthday party next week.
